Manual Lymphatic Drainage
Manual Lymphatic Drainage uses a light rhythmic skin pumping action to increase lymph flow and aid your lymphatic system in waste product removal.
I will try and make this treatment as relaxing as possible by dimming the lights and playing music, but please be aware that we are based in a gym and despite playing music, it doesn't block out all the noises!
Benefits
Manual Lymphatic Drainage has a large number of benefits by aiding the lymphatic system and stimulating the parasympathetic nervous system.
The lymphatic system plays a huge role in our immunity especially where we are surrounded by pollution and chemicals 24/7. If lymph builds up in an area the lymphatic system become stagnant and toxic.
Manual Lymphatic Drainage can :
- Aid the clearing of waste and toxins with in the body.
- Aid nutrient transportation.
- Increase metabolic efficiency.
- Assist with weight reduction from carrying excess water, assisting with oedema and fluid retention
- Calm the parasympathetic nervous system reducing tension and stress, helping with anxiety, mild depression, stress and tension.
- Reduce face puffiness and potentially slow down skin aging by rejuvenating collagen fibres within the tissue
- Help with symptoms of ME, migraines and Fibromyalgia
- Aid digestion and constipation
- Help with fatigue and excessive tiredness
- Menopause: The reduction of oestrogen and collagen synthesis weakens the lymphatic vessels. In turn resulting in bloating, heavy limbs and joint fatigue. Manual Lymphatic Drainage can aid the lymphatic system and therefore reduce these symptoms

What to expect after treatment
Please note these are just possibilities. It doesn't mean everyone will experience them nor are you likely to experience every single one. However, don't be alarmed if you do have any of the following. It's just your body's way of responding to treatment and expelling the toxins.
- Most will likely need to urinate after treatment.
- Increased thirst.
- Most will feel calm having activated the parasympathetic nervous system.
- 80% -90% of people will find sleep improved though rarely some may experience disturbed sleep.
- Reduced swelling and puffiness and the feeling lighter limbs.
- Reduction in brain fog and increase in mental clarity.
- If it’s a first treatment, some clients may experience headaches, nausea, cold/flu symptoms or stomach issues while the body clears toxins. Body tenderness and soreness aren’t common but can happen. The more toxins in a person system, the stronger the response.
- Some may experience an emotional release, as the lymphatic and nervous system are connected.
- Temporary skin irritations – the body will get rid of toxins by any means necessary and the skin is one pathway.
- Strange body smells as the body gets rid of toxins
